September on the Arlberg: the month for connoisseurs

Slow season at Arpuria – peaceful, mature, truly wonderful

Nature shifts down a gear, whilst the kitchen is at its very best. September makes the Arlberg slower and quieter – and thus truly enjoyable.

September and early October on the Arlberg offer tranquillity, autumn colours, and fewer people on the trails. Add to that a quiet boutique hotel at 1,380 metres on the edge of the forest, reserved for adults aged 16 and over, awarded 93 points and five stars in the Falstaff Hotel Guide 2025.

Nature in autumn
Mild temperatures of 14 to 15 degrees by day, 6 to 7 degrees at night: conditions that are ideal for long hikes. The forests are changing colour, the herds are returning to the valley – a tradition celebrated on the third Saturday in September with the „Almabtrieb“ (cattle drive) and a farmers’ festival. Several high-altitude trails towards the Verwall Group start right outside the hotel. A cycle path leads into the Verwall valley with gentle gradients up to Lake Verwall at 1,509 metres; the Galzigbahn cable car runs until 4 October to the Mutspuren circular trail at 2,085 metres. The major summit tours take place in the first half of September: the Kapallbahn cable car, and the Leutkircher and Darmstädter huts remain open until 20 September.

E2 = dining and relaxation
In the evenings, you have a choice at Arpuria: PURA for casual fine dining, ZENZIS Stube for Alpine cuisine, and Q Dinner Club for Asian fusion cuisine. At ELEMENTS, head chef Noemi Zagoni takes the lead: “rooted. raw. refined.” All this is complemented by the Kaiserstein wine cellar, complete with wine tastings. At the Aria Spa, our wellness treasure trove awaits you: a panoramic sauna, hay sauna, infrared salt grotto, and heated indoor and outdoor pools; massages must be booked in advance, from 60.00 euros for around 25 minutes.
